What Nova collects, what it does not, and why the answer is mostly "nothing".
1. The short version
This website collects nothing about you unless you make a Nova Account. There are no contact forms, no analytics and no tracking scripts, and browsing it sets no cookies. A Nova Account is optional; if you create one, a single cookie keeps you signed in and section 3 lists everything that is stored.
Nova products keep your work on your own machine. Files, projects, settings and history stay in local storage on your computer. Ordinary use does not send them anywhere, and a Nova Account does not change that — it identifies you, it does not collect your work.
The rest of this page explains that in more detail, and describes what would change if a future product needed more.
2. What we may collect
Today, in ordinary use:
- From this website — nothing. It is a set of static pages with no data collection built in.
- From Nova products — nothing sent to us. They read and write files on your machine and do not report back.
- If you email us at the address below, we will have your email address and whatever you chose to write, for as long as it takes to deal with your message.
Your web hosting and network providers can still see that a request was made — that is how the internet works, and it is outside anything Nova controls. Where the provider serving this site keeps standard access logs, those logs are that provider's, kept under that provider's policy.
3. Account information
A Nova Account is optional. You can read this site, and use Nova products, without one. It exists so that one identity works across the Nova ecosystem instead of each product asking you to register separately.
When you create one, we hold: your email address; a scrypt hash of your password, never the password itself, from which the password cannot be recovered; an optional display name if you give one; a list of your active sessions, so that signing out actually ends them; and, for as long as one is outstanding, a hashed password-reset token, which is deleted the moment it is used or expires. We also record which Nova products the account has been used with — a product name and a date, nothing about what you did there.
The same account is used by Nova.Help when you file a support ticket while signed in. It is one account, not a copy per product, and it is the same record described here wherever you meet it.
We do not sell it, we do not profile you with it, and we do not use it to track you between sites. If you want it deleted, ask through Nova.Help and we will remove the account and everything listed above.
4. Usage information
Nova does not run analytics. We do not measure page views, build usage profiles, record sessions, or track you between visits or between products.
Some Nova products keep a local history so a feature can work — recently opened files, a command history, an assistant's memory of what you told it. That information stays on your machine, and you can delete it there.
5. Device and technical information
Nova products read information about your own computer where a feature needs it — for example, checking available disk space, listing installed applications so you can open one, or choosing a suitable graphics setting.
That information is used on your machine, for that feature, at that moment. It is not collected, aggregated, or transmitted to us.
7. How information is used
Because so little is collected, the list is short. Information you do give us is used to:
- Reply to a message you sent us.
- Investigate a bug, security issue or copyright report you raised.
- Meet a legal obligation, where one applies.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not use it for advertising or profiling.
9. Data security
The strongest protection here is structural: information that is never collected cannot be leaked from us. Keeping your work on your own machine is the main privacy decision in every Nova product, and it is deliberate.
For what does reach us — an email, a bug report — we take reasonable steps to protect it. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Data on your own machine is protected by your machine. Please use the account security, disk encryption and backups your operating system provides.
10. Data retention
We keep correspondence only as long as it is useful for handling the matter it relates to, or as long as a legal obligation requires.
Anything a Nova product stores locally stays until you delete it. Uninstalling a product, or clearing its data from within it, removes it.
11. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights over personal information held about you — to ask what is held, to have it corrected, or to have it deleted.
You can exercise those rights by writing to getnovasupport@gmail.com. In practice the answer for most people will be that we hold nothing about them at all. For data held locally by a Nova product, you already have direct control: it is on your machine, and you can delete it yourself.
12. Children's privacy
Nova's products are not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
The only personal information this site can collect is what somebody types into the Nova Account sign-up form. If you believe a child has provided us with information, please contact us and we will delete the account and everything held with it.
13. Third-party services
Some Nova products can be connected to outside services, by your choice. The clearest example is Atlas: it works fully with nothing connected, and can optionally be given a key for an external model provider. If you do that, whatever you send through that feature goes to the provider you chose, under that provider's terms and privacy policy.
The same applies to any link you open from a Nova product or from this site. Once you leave, that destination's own policies apply. We are not responsible for how other services handle your information.
14. Changes to this policy
Nova is still being built, and this policy will be updated as the products change — particularly if a product ever adds accounts, uploads, or a hosted service.
The effective date at the top shows when the current version took effect. If a change means we would start collecting something we do not collect today, we will say so plainly rather than burying it in an update.
15. Contact
Privacy questions can be sent to getnovasupport@gmail.com, addressed to [Company/Legal Entity Name].
About this page. This is an informational template written for the Nova website while the products are being built. It is not legal advice, and it has not been reviewed by a lawyer. It describes only what Nova actually does today — where a practice does not exist yet, the page says so instead of claiming one. The bracketed values are placeholders for details that have not been decided yet, and Nova itself is a brand direction still under review.
